The fires clouded the air  over the Pacific with dense plumes of smoke that stretched across hundreds of  kilometers. Roughly 85 drivers showed up to test their skills on the 1.8 mile course. Drivers were split into four groups based on skill with each group getting three 20 minute sessions. The fourth and final session consisted of 3 timed laps. It was a good opportunity to drive the car as it was designed and not worry about the usual driving hazards of living in Los Angeles. On Friday we hiked up to the Lakes and as you can see from the photo of Lake Mary, it was truly awesome! The picture was taken using my cheapo point and shoot Nikon. The snow on top is still holding up very nicely. If you get a chance, you should race up the Mountain and get some more days in before they close after the July 4th weekend.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I boarded Sunday morning for a couple of hours and then took a trip across the valley to the &lt;a href="http://www.sonic.net/bristlecone/"&gt;Ancient Bristlecone Forest&lt;/a&gt; in the White Mountains. In 1957, Dr. Edmund Schulman discovered the Bristlecone Pine to be the oldest living thing on the planet.
